Best for

  • Families sharing housework between 2 to 6 people
  • Parents who want age-appropriate chores for 2 or 3 kids on one page
  • Roommates and couples who want a fair weekly rotation
  • Families who pay allowance or use points for chores

Not the best fit for

  • Automatic reminders, phone notifications or tracking over months (use an app such as OurHome)
  • Picture-only charts for toddlers who cannot read yet
  • Paying children directly; this chart only records what was earned

How it compares

Canva
Hundreds of designed templates and full design freedom, but you need an account and some elements are paid.
Chore apps (Greenlight, BusyKid, OurHome)
Reminders, automatic allowance and history on phones; Greenlight and BusyKid are paid subscriptions. A paper chart on the fridge needs no device.
Etsy and blog printables
Often beautiful, but fixed: you usually cannot change names, chores or paper size before printing.

What makes this chore chart maker different

Three things most free chore charts skip: per-person colours, fair rotation and a real total for allowance or points.

A family chore chart with a colour for each person

Add up to six names and turn on Group rows by person. The tool puts each person's chores together with one colour, so a 4-year-old can find their own row and an 11-year-old can see the bigger jobs. Chore ideas by age fill the chart in a few taps.

Rotating chore chart so nobody gets stuck with the bathroom

Choose the rotating layout and the chart writes a name in every week column, moving each chore to the next person every week for 2 to 8 weeks. It works for siblings, couples and roommates, and there is a tick box under every name.

Points and money columns for allowance charts

Switch on Points or Money to add a value next to each chore, a Total column for the week and a weekly total box. Mark unpaid family jobs with a dash. This printable does not move money; it just makes what was earned easy to add up on Sunday.

How to make a chore chart with the chore chart maker

Five minutes from blank page to a chart on the fridge.

  1. Pick a template close to your family

Start with Family, Chore Chart for 3 Kids, Rotating, Roommate Rotation, Chore Chart with Money or Points. Every part can be changed afterwards, so the closest match is enough.

    • Use Rotating when everyone does the same jobs in turn
    • Use Blank if you prefer to handwrite chores after printing
    Choose a template
  2. Add names and age-appropriate chores

Type one name per line, choose who a chore is for, then tap ideas from the right age group. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry notes that even 3-year-olds can help, for example by putting toys away. The AAP suggests adding one new task at a time.

    • Two or three daily chores is a realistic start for a preschooler
    • Write chores as actions: 'Feed the cat', not 'Pets'
    Add chores
  3. Choose layout, days and values

Pick weekly, Monday–Friday, daily, monthly or rotating. Set the week to start on Monday or Sunday. If you pay allowance or use points, switch on the value column and type an amount for each chore.

    • Mark unpaid family jobs with “—” so kids see which chores are expected
    • Turn on Group rows by person for two or more children
    Open settings
  4. Print at actual size and put it where chores happen

Choose US Letter or A4, then download the PDF and print at 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page. Landscape fits 7 days best. Print on 120–160 gsm paper or slip it into a sheet protector so it can be reused with a dry-erase marker.

    • Hang it at your child's eye level, on the fridge or bedroom door
    • Review the chart together once a week and swap chores that are too easy

Chore chart maker FAQ

Plain answers about free printable chore charts, chores by age and paying for chores.

Is this chore chart maker really free, with no sign-up?

Yes. You can make, download and print as many charts as you like without an account or email address, and the PDF and PNG files have no watermark.

Does the chore chart maker upload my family's names?

No. The chart is drawn in your browser. Names, chores and amounts are not sent to PrintMigo or stored on a server.

How do I make a chore chart for multiple kids?

Type each child's name on its own line (up to 6), assign every chore to a child and turn on Group rows by person. Each child then gets a colour and their own block of rows. Use the 'Chore Chart for 3 Kids' template as a starting point; a chart holds up to 12 chores, so 3 or 4 per child fits on one page.

How do I make a rotating chore chart?

Choose the Rotating layout, list the chores and the people, and pick 2 to 8 weeks. Each week every chore moves to the next person on the list. With the same number of people and chores, everyone does every job once in a full cycle.

What chores are age-appropriate for kids?

Roughly: ages 2–3 put toys away and clothes in the hamper; 4–5 feed pets and set the table; 6–7 sweep and put away their own laundry; 8–9 load the dishwasher and take out trash; 10–12 do laundry and clean the bathroom; teens cook meals and run errands. These lists follow AACAP, AAP (HealthyChildren.org) and University of Arkansas Extension guidance, and you can add each list in one tap above.

Should kids get paid for chores?

Experts disagree. Some, like Dave Ramsey, pay a commission only for chores that are done; others, like author Ron Lieber, keep allowance separate from everyday family jobs. A common middle way is unpaid family chores plus paid extra jobs. The value column lets you mark both, and the '$1 per year of age per week' rule is a rule of thumb, not research.

How many chores should a child have a day?

There is no official number. The AAP advises adding one new task at a time. Many families start with two or three short daily chores for preschoolers and add bigger weekly jobs, such as vacuuming or laundry, from about age 8.

Do chore charts work?

The AAP describes a chore chart as a visual reminder that keeps everyone in the family on task. Charts work best when chores are specific, the child can do them alone and you check the chart together at a set time each week.

Can I print the chore chart maker output on A4 or US Letter?

Yes. Pick US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) or A4 (210 × 297 mm), portrait or landscape. Print at 100% or Actual size. Monthly charts are always landscape so all 31 days fit.

Is a printable chore chart better than a chore app?

It depends. Apps such as OurHome, Greenlight or BusyKid send reminders and handle allowance on a phone, and some cost a monthly fee. A printed chore chart costs nothing, needs no device and is visible to young children on the fridge, but it does not remind anyone or keep history.
