How it compares
Fixed PDF checklists
A ready-made checklist is convenient when its rooms and tasks already fit. This editor lets you change those details before printing, but keeps each sheet to 12 tasks.
101 Planners
Offers a free cleaning schedule tool plus Word and PDF templates. This page focuses on a compact checklist showing a room, frequency and household member for every task.
Printable Toolkit
Also offers editable rooms, frequencies and assignees, with additional CSV export and move-out presets. PrintMigo provides four cleaning starters alongside the shared chore chart tools.
A printable cleaning schedule for your rooms and routine
Keep the task, how often it happens and who does it together on the page.
Group the work by room
Keep kitchen jobs together, then move through the bathroom, bedroom and living area. Rename a room to match your home, such as “Guest bathroom” or “Home office”. A room column identifies each row, and dividers separate the groups. The person and frequency stay visible beside every task.
Choose a focused starter or group the rows by frequency to bring daily, weekly and monthly jobs together. Each row keeps its frequency label, with dividers between groups. Use “As needed” for jobs such as emptying a full bin. These are starting suggestions: change each interval to suit your household.
Add up to six household names and assign the work before downloading. Choose a low-ink theme for everyday printing, or a colour theme for a shared kitchen. The PDF and PNG show the same task details as the preview; use a fresh sheet for the next period or place it in a reusable sleeve.
Start with the jobs you actually want to see on one sheet.
01
Choose the closest cleaning starter
Cleaning by Room opens with a mixed household list. Choose Daily Cleaning, Weekly Cleaning or Monthly Cleaning if you want a separate sheet for one interval. The main chore chart maker also offers weekly grids and rotating assignments when that format suits your routine better.
A short list is easier to review than a complete household inventory.
Remove tasks that do not apply before adding your own.
Enter up to six names, one per line, then edit each row. Write a specific action such as “Wipe the kitchen counter” rather than “Kitchen”. Add the room and assign a person. A chart can hold 12 cleaning tasks; print separate lists if you need more detail.
Keep task names short enough to scan in the preview.
Use the date field for “Week of” or a month written out in words.
03
Set realistic intervals and grouping
Choose daily, weekly, monthly or as needed for each task, then group the sheet by room or frequency. These starter intervals are examples, not a universal cleaning rule. CDC guidance recommends cleaning high-touch surfaces regularly and other surfaces when visibly dirty or as needed.
Use the notes area for the agreed cleaning day or a short reminder.
Review the plan together after using it and change jobs that do not fit.
Choose US Letter or A4 to match the paper in your printer, then download the PDF and print at 100% or Actual size. Ordinary 80–100 gsm office paper is suitable for a one-use checklist; check your printer specifications before using heavier stock. Keep the sheet whole—no cutting is needed.
Preview both orientations if task or room names are long.
Use a sheet protector and a suitable erasable marker if you want to reuse the page.
Printable cleaning schedule FAQ
Answers about editing, cleaning intervals, household assignments and printing.
Is this cleaning schedule printable free without signing up?
Yes. You can edit the chart, download a PDF or PNG and print without an account or email address. The output has no watermark, and the household names and cleaning tasks are processed locally in your browser.
How do I make a printable cleaning schedule for a busy household?
Start with the room-by-room list, remove jobs that do not apply, then assign each remaining task to a person and choose its frequency. Keep one sheet to 12 tasks. Use the notes area for the cleaning day or a short agreement about what each job includes.
What should go on daily, weekly and monthly cleaning lists?
Possible daily jobs include doing dishes and putting items away; weekly jobs might include vacuuming and wiping the bathroom; monthly jobs might include cupboard fronts or less-used shelves. These are planning examples. Change the frequency when your home, available time or the condition of a surface calls for it.
How often should I clean each room?
There is no single interval for every room and task. CDC recommends regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces and cleaning other surfaces when visibly dirty or as needed. The chart provides four labels—daily, weekly, monthly and as needed—so you can adjust each task instead of applying one rule to a whole room.
Can I organize the printable cleaning schedule by room or frequency?
Yes. In the cleaning layout, choose grouping by room, by frequency or none. Each row still prints its task, room, frequency, assigned person and completion box. You can mix daily and weekly tasks in the same room group.
Can couples or roommates share one cleaning checklist?
Yes. Add up to six names and assign each task. The cleaning checklist holds up to 12 tasks. If you want names to change across weeks, choose the separate Rotating layout in the tool; the cleaning layout itself prints fixed assignments.
Can I download this cleaning schedule printable as a PDF for A4 or Letter?
Yes. Select A4 (210 × 297 mm) or US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), then choose portrait or landscape. Download PDF for printing, PNG for an image copy, or print directly. Match the printer paper size and use 100% or Actual size.
Does the cleaning checklist track every day of the month?
The cleaning layout has one completion box per task and a written frequency. It is a reusable plan, not a completion log. For a box on each day, switch to the separate weekly grid or monthly layout; the 31-day monthly grid fits up to 10 tasks.
Can I reuse a printed cleaning checklist?
Yes. Put the page in a sheet protector and use a marker suited to that surface. Clear the marks when you begin the next period, or print a new copy. Save a PDF or PNG before closing if you want to keep the finished chart.
